Frequently asked questions

Which types of air conditioners are supported?

Air conditioners, BLDC evaporative coolers, and induction-motor evaporative coolers are supported when they use a compatible IR/RF remote. Other IR/RF appliances can also be added when they are within control range.

Is direct line of sight required?

IR-controlled devices usually need line of sight, similar to a normal remote. RF-controlled devices do not need direct line of sight, but they must be within the supported signal range.

Can I control appliances in a room where I am not present?

Yes. Commands are sent through the Zima cloud, so you can control a bedroom cooler from your office or from anywhere with an internet connection.

What happens if WiFi is disconnected?

If the cloud connection is lost, appliances remain in their last configured state. Local control with the original physical remote continues to work independently.
